I have the best customers. Martha recently purchased two of my paper bowls. She is totally amazing and lovely to work with. I was blown away by the beautiful marbles she sent me. I don't have words to express my gratitude for her thoughtfulness and generosity.

Look at the abundance of beautifully handmade marbles -from a small Terra Cotta making town in Italy- she spoiled us with!

There are so many incredible connections we all are making using our computers. Reaching out beyond the screen, to send a little handmade surprise to one of our on-line friends, transcends the virtual relationship and makes it real... makes it tangible in new way. The striking deep blue of a quality sapphire is reminiscent of a cloudless night sky. The Emerald is a member of the beryl family of minerals. The green crystals grow slowly within metamorphic rocks and are restricted in size by the rock, making large Emeralds rare and costly.

Emeralds are considered one of the most difficult gemstones to cut. While they are extremely hard, harder than steel, they are also brittle and can easily crack or chip if not handled properly. Emeralds are also strong enough to withstand heat and they do not change color easily.

It takes an expert eye to determine how the rough emeralds should be oriented to maximize the beauty of their final appearance. They are most often fashioned in a rectangular step-cut, which suits the natural shape of the emerald crystal. This style is now known as the “emerald cut”. Rather than bring out the sparkle of a stone, as in the case of the round “brilliant cut,” focuses on the depth of the crystal, allowing you to appreciate the gem’s color.

Some people believe that wearing an Emerald brings wisdom, growth, and patience. And as any couple in a long-term relationship would agree, all of these qualities are essential for a successful and lasting love. For those who are born in the month of January, they should be familiar to their birthstone, which is garnet.

It is a gemstone that got its name from the Greek word “granatus” which literally means “grain.” It is also associated with the pomegranate fruit, which resembles the color of the most common garnets.

Although most commonly known as a red gemstone, the garnet comes in a variety of other hues, including muted yellows, vibrant oranges, rosy pinks, lime greens, and violets—a virtual bouquet of colors.

There are countless beliefs regarding the various benefits of wearing a garnet to promote good health.

In ancient and medieval times, Garnets were worn to enhance bodily strength, endurance and vigor. It was thought to be healing for either gender. For men, it keeps the reproductive system healthy. For women, it promotes hormonal balance and is said to reduce swelling.

There are many beliefs in the power of garnet, not just physical health, but mental health as well. Garnet’s virtues have been long believed to include passion, true friendship, fidelity, success, self-esteem, loyalty, devotion, energy, faith, consistency, and truth. The stone also sharpens your perception of yourself and other people.

In the past, garnets have been exchanged between parting friends to symbolize their affection and to ensure that they meet again.

Garnet also has many virtues when it comes to love and sex as there is a strong aspect of sexual and sensual energy in garnets. The stone is said to balance the sex drive. Garnet moves a couple deeper into a passionate and sensual exploration of sexual magic. The stone inspires commitment, monogamous and stable marriage, and promises one’s love, devotion, and fidelity with surety. It can also aid in finding true lovers.

Perhaps the strongest virtue of the garnet, is its ability to help one overcome depression. The stone revitalizes, purifies and balances energy, bringing serenity or passionate as appropriate. It removes inhibitions, taboos, anger and discord. It alleviates emotional disharmony, brings on a calming influence, and protects the wearer from being affected by the unwanted energy of others.
